In Memoriam: Major Thomas Neal Stiver
Major (ret.) Thomas Neal Stiver, aged 69, passed away on September 9, 2017. Born on September 24, 1947, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, he was the son of William and Ader Lina Stiver and had two brothers, William and Stephen. Tom enlisted in the US Air Force in 1965, serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War with the 4258th Strategic Wing. After returning home in January 1969, he married Judith Meyerhoefer on April 19 of the same year. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1974 and later a Master's in Facilities Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1980. Tom's distinguished military career included global assignments at various bases. He retired in 1992 and pursued acting, featuring in commercials and television shows, notably as "The Prospector" in HBO's Deadwood. Locally, he was cherished as Santa Claus, bringing joy to many children. Tom is survived by his three children, grandchildren, and numerous friends. His final wishes include interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
